A box full of goodies~

The girls over at the Cricut Circle Message Board and I had a Secret Partner Box Swap! Yippee!

We each purchased kraft boxes from cricut.com while on sale. See we’re smart too!

Then we decorated and filled them with handmade and purchased scrapbook goodness.

I decided to make various tags and embellishments that my partner could easily use as is, disassemble or embellish even more. I think I have included enough goodies for a nice mini album. In fact I cheated and included one in the shipping box! Don’t tell!

I find the hardest part of making and buying things for others is the thought they won’t like what I like. Anyway, it’s the thought that counts right?

Here are the goodies that filled my box~

I included several sheets of Teresa Collins Fabrications Canvas and Linen collections.
This paper feels so soft and smooth. Love it!

I made tags using TBBM. I used words from A Child’s Year and Paper Pups to creat the cut outs.

And guess what my partner’s initial is?

I used Sophisticated for the letter “R.”

The collection of buttons, brads, butterflies and pins I included~

My box top~

I used Mother’s Day Bouquet for the handmade flowers and leaves.

My box all tied up and ready to go to it’s new home~

A close of up of that charming Tim Holtz bird charm~

I used My Mind’s Eye Miss Caroline and Teresa Collins Fabrications collection for all of my decorations and handmade items.

I sure hope my partner likes it!

And here is the wonderful box I received from Scrapperbecka~

First things first~

The card she made me. Isn’t it cute?

My box waiting for me to figure out just HOW to get it out~

Look she even had to add extenders to contain all the goodness she stuffed in it!

A better look at the way she decorated it. Isn’t beautiful? And what a wonderful quote!

All of the wonderful goodies~

I think she included a little bit of EVERYTHING in there~ flowers, ribbon, stamps, brads, buttons, chipboard, tags, notepads, a bracelet and even gel pens for my Cricut!! Oh my!

Thank you SO much Becka! I really appreciate it and can’t wait to start using it ALL!

And most importantly my box will proudly be displayed on my bookshelf.

Also, a BIG thank you to RockinRenee for hosting this swap. This was FUN!!

Today You Are You

This week every where I turned I saw Dr. Seuss and his always entertaining sayings. Studio Calico and October Afternoon both had challenges encouraging you to use them in your layouts. So when I was even faced with one while standing in line at the grocery store I knew it was time to get busy!

A larger version of this photo hangs in Hartly’s room. It was taken in the hospital when she was just a few days old. And the look on her face just tickles me, because it portrays SO much of her little personality. In looking at this picture you can tell that she is going to be a character, and she has certainly lived up to that!

Luckily for me Kinsey over at the October Afternoon blog posted the Silhouette cut file for this quote. But of course, I have to be different. I chose to use the negative of the cut. You would think this would be SO easy; however, you tend to forget about all the o’s, a’s and other odds and ends that HAVE to be there for it to be legible.

My layout~

A close up of the details~

The quote~

The hearts~

I stitched the hearts together and then used Tacky Tape to adhere them to the page. And I must admit that I’m a little proud of myself for accomplishing this. Aren’t they cute?

My little saying~

I heart the little heart mini brads.

I used~
October Afternoon Fly a Kite: Strawberry Jam paper, The Thrift Shop: Good Junk paper and kraft paper, OA Farmhouse Flower Sack hearts, Joann Heart Mini Brads
Baby Steps for the hearts cut at 2″, 1.75″ and 1.4″

And I think one of the greatest lessons I can teach my children is that they are all three capable of great things as long as they stay true to themselves.

That is IF we survive the teenage years!
