Happy 2015 National Scrapbooking Day Weekend!!
Because, really one day isn’t enough.
Several of us are celebrating over on the Cricut Circle Message Board and our blogs with challenges starting today and going all day tomorrow.
My challenge is Crafting With Negative Nelly: Use the Negative Portion of Your Cut.
You know….the part you usually throw away.
I often find myself using the negative portion of my cuts rather than the actual cut image for backgrounds and especially for my titles.
I started by using the new shape tool features found in the updated Cricut Design Space to create my background.
It’s a simple square filled with hearts.
Lots of hearts.
And yes, I saved all those hearts for a future project.
I also cut slightly larger hearts out of multiple patterned paper to use behind the cut out sheet of hearts.
It took a bit of time getting them all in place and secured.
It was well worth it I think.
Then I simply added my picture, title and a few embellishments to complete my layout of Miss Hartly being her usual silly self.
A few close-ups~
Oh, that face… I just love it.
Now it’s your turn to be a Negative Nelly!
Make a card, layout, tag or any type of project using the negative part of your cut.
Post your project on the Cricut Circle Message Board under the Crafting With Negative Nelly Challenge thread for a chance to win there. Then come back here and leave me a link to your project in the comments for a chance to win here.
If you are not a Circle Member you can still participate by leaving me a comment with a link to your blog post or to any gallery of your choosing such as Studio Calico, the Cricut General Message Board, etc. Leave me a link and I’ll find you. For every project made you get TWO entries.
Don’t have time to make something? Awww…leave a comment letting me know what you would make and I’ll enter you in the drawing as well.
You have until Sunday, May 17th at midnight EST to enter to win a $20.00 gift card to Simon Says Stamp.com. One gift card will be given away on the Cricut Circle Message Board Crafting With Negative Nelly Challenge Thread and one will be given away here on my blog. Good luck!
