Hopefully, you hopped here from the very talented Mou’s blog.
With the release of DCWV’s Texture Stacks it was the perfect time to join with Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft and get creative.
And for this girl it meant a little messy.
I will be the first to admit that the control freak in me was a bit intimidated by the goodies Faber-Castell sent.
I received Metallic Pitt Artist Pens, Paper Crafter Crayons, Gelatos, Whipped Spackle, Chalkboard Paint and Gesso.
Most of you might know that liquid glue and I don’t really mix well, but I wanted to use as many of the products as possible.
I also felt like I wanted to use these products in what I enjoy making the most…layouts.
And the moment I saw the You Are SVG cut file I knew I wanted to use the various Faber-Castell products to create a background for it.
And look how perfect this cut is using the new Cricut Explore and smooth cardstock~
I love that!!
And I won’t even tell you about my first try with my Silhouette, textured paper and a new mat. Yikes!
For my background I simply colored with the Paper Crafter Crayons onto a sheet of DCWV Adhesive Paper.
I tried using the Gelatos for a watercolor effect and really liked how they looked on DCWV’s Handmade Paper.
But, the shades of blue and green Paper Crafter Crayons just really appealed to me along with how they looked on the textured paper.
I did add a few spots with the Gelatos to mix in the pink and deep purple.
I knew I didn’t want to cover up too much of the You Are cut, but I wanted to add a bit of layering with the various fabrics.
I used the Whipped Spackle along with the DCWV Stencils to create several patterns and extra dimension for my photo mats.
I love how light and easy it was to spread and control.
And finally all the pieces came together.
My layout~
I matted everything on a sheet of 12×12 Corrugate Paper which not only provided an additional pop of color, but some much-needed stability.
A close up~
And my favorite part… You are the one true love of my life~
Maybe one day I will show all the little extras and oppsies I made along the way as there were a lot!
But, I had so much fun getting out of my comfort zone, using new products and mediums and even making a mess.
Surprisingly I kept the Spackle mess to a minimum, but I did find several tiny letters all the way upstairs in my clothes closet. Uh oh!
Guess what? There’s some great prizes to be won!!
