Something to pass the time~

So, I should be planning and packing for an upcoming weekend Circle Mania event.

Or even working on an upcoming blog hop or post over at the Cricut FANatic blog.

Instead I pulled out a project that I’ve been wanting to work on for quite some time.

When the Close To My Heart Art Philosophy cartridge came out we saw so many beautiful wreathes and projects made from the fabulous flower cuts on it.

I knew I wanted to make a flower ball, but I just couldn’t commit to starting it.

The idea of cutting, rolling and gluing so many flowers was daunting.

Anyway, today I did it!

My flower ball~

It really didn’t take as much time as I thought it would.

I did skip the gluing task by simply using the stick pins to hold the flowers in place.

I like that it allows some of the flowers to release a bit more than the others giving it more dimension.

I love that the paper already has a simmer to it, so I did not have to add any extra.

A close up~

Isn’t it pretty?

I’m already thinking ahead to Valentine’s Day and making red ones.

I used~

DCWV The Shimmer Stack and The Coral Couture Cardstock Stack
CTMH Art Philosophy for the flowers cut at varying sizes starting at 4″
Vellum, Ribbon, Long Pearlized Pins, Styrofoam Ball

  1. It’s LUCIOUS!!!!!!!!!! I’m wonderin’ though…do you have stacks & stacks of vellum???!! I don’t know if I have a single piece of vellum in my stash :O ! Any idea how many flowers did you make for this project??

    • Just for you I went through my trashcan!!

I used 8 sheets of 12×12 cardstock with each sheet making 9 flowers. I used only 3 sheets of vellum which being smaller gave me less flowers. Seven, I think.

And yes, I LOVE vellum. Need some?
