Hush Little Baby

Sketch Five from my Studio Calico Sketchbook Four class was a bit challenging for me. So, I did it twice! Actually, three times if you count the cuts I made, but quickly discarded.

This is my first attempt~

While I like it, I don’t love it. I used seam binding ribbon to create the lines from the sketch, but something seems off to me. I wanted to add a bright, sparkly TC gem to the date tag, but Ashlyn didn’t like that. Even with the bling I still don’t think I would be happy with this layout other than the adorable sleeping baby on it.

So here is my second attemt~

I got the idea for the triangles from the Crate Paper blog. The designer modeled her triangle pattern after a quilt. I thought a quilt pattern would be a great base for a picture of a sleeping Hartly. Isn’t scary seeing how my little brain works? BUT aren’t they fantastic?

I used a scalloped 1 1/4″ square punch to make various patterned squares and then cut them in half. I thought they worked perfectly to show the lines from the sketch.

A close up~

My title~

I used my Silhouette to cut the word Hush using the Lauren script welded and cut at a 3″ width.
I used the Petite Type Circle letters from my Authentique paper pack. And for once I was actually happy with how they looked!
To tie my title and cardstock elements together I added Martha Stewart sequin stars across the entire area.

I used~
Authentique Journey Collection items: Stroll, Voyage, Explore, Itinerary paper, Petite Type Circle letters, Tabloid cardstock elements
October Afternoon Sidewalks paper
Vellum, MS sequin stars

The exact same paper line and elements were used for the fist layout along with a Teresa Collins brad.

Boy, looking at these pictures I could almost want another little one.
Noticed I said almost!
