Eek! With this project I am trying all sorts of new stuff! Cutting pages out of books, using alcohol inks and even sewing!! Yes, I sewed my book pages together. And it worked. Yippee!! I love the look of sewing on layouts and cards; however, I’ve always been too big of a chicken to try it. I didn’t want to ruin a page with wonky stitches. But when I saw the stitching in the project instructions, I decided to go for it!
The instructions were to use a glassine bag; however, I did not have one. But, I did have a Wilton party favor bag that I thought would show all the little confetti elements better. I used George to cut hearts, diamonds, stars and flowers. I added Martha Stewart sequins, gems and OA buttons to the bag, folded it and stitched across the top.
I then added my OA papers, word stickers and twine.
Underneath the bag is a little introductory phrase that I typed on vellum. Yes, I chickened out on actually writing directly on this page, but I like the way it turned out with the typed writing laying over the book title and graphic. I promise I will add my handwriting to this album, but just not on the very first page. Plus, I had just sewn that bag on. What if I had messed it up? I am the WORST speller ever. Just ask my hubby!
